Central West Queensland
Camping and Caravanning in Central West Queensland
Central West Queensland has some of the most remote and arid areas of the state where the cattle, sheep and kangaroos can outnumber the humans.
The regions of the area are Diamantina, Boulia, Barcoo, Winton, Longreach, Blackall-Tambo, and Barcaldine.
Locals are known for their resilience and sense of humour. Many of the stories and legends of Australia’s pioneering days were born here, and the themes of mateship, egalitarianism and a fair go are celebrated in the region’s museums and monuments.
The region aims to attract visitors to niche attractions like paleontology sites, museums, unique festivals and events (such as the Harry Redford Cattle Drive, Easter in the outback and the National Bilby Festival) and remote National Parks.
