Guthalungra Rest Area

Guthalungra Rest Area is a free short term campsite located roughly 68km South East of Ayr and 47km North West of Bowen right beside the Bruce Highway in the Whitsunday Region of Queensland.

This rest area is a combined motorist and heavy vehicle rest area where trucks, motorists, and caravans can stop and take a break. There is a sealed horseshoe shaped ring road with quite a lot of parking available. It is a popular spot and can fill up very quickly so it’s best to try and get there early. It can be a bit noisy at times due to its proximity to both the highway and railway line but it’s facilities and pleasant surrounding gardens make it a good place for a quick stop for lunch or an overnight stay.

There is a service station on the adjacent corner to Guthalungra Rest Area that normally has fuel at reasonable prices and where you can pick up basic supplies and they even sell meals. At the time of publishing this article you could also get a hot shower at the service station for just $3.00.

There is some mobile phone service (depending on your carrier) and television reception here.
Dogs are welcome at this campsite but please be responsible!

The maximum time limit for staying here is 20 hours.
