Charlie Moreland Camping Area

Located 11km west of Kenilworth and 40km north west of Malaney in the Imbil State Forest, Charlie Moreland Camping Area is low cost campsite maintained by the Queensland Government Department of National Parks, Recreation, Sort and Racing.

Charlie Moreland Camping Area is set in grassy open forest nestled close to Little Yabba Creek and is surrounded by native pine plantations. There are no defined sites but there are barbecues and fire rings dotted through out the area. Charlie Moreland Camping Area is suitable for tent camping, caravan, camper trailers, campervans and small motor homes. Because of it’s large area it is particularly suitable for large groups. Open fires are only allowed in the barbecues and fire rings and only when there are no fire bans for the area. There is water available but it is unsuitable for drinking without treatment as it is pumped from the creek and may contain organisms that can cause illness. You will need to bring your own clean, untreated firewood, such as mill off-cuts. Fuel stoves are recommended for cooking Please note that generators are not allowed to be used in this area. Rubbish bins are not provided in Imbil State Forest. Take all your rubbish out of the park for appropriate disposal.

Domestic animals, including horses, are not permitted in the camping area. Horses are only permitted on the Horse Trail Network and in the large enclosed paddock provided beside the camping area.

As with all camping areas maintained by NPRSR, permits are required to camp here and fees apply. A camping tag with your booking number must be displayed at your campsite at all times. Bookings can be made online, over-the-counter or by phoning 13 74 68.

From Brisbane, follow the Bruce Highway north, take the Landsborough exit and travel to Maleny. Then travel along the Maleny-Kenilworth Road and turn into Sunday Creek Road (13.5 km north of Conondale township). The Charlie Moreland camping area is 5 km along Sunday Creek Road.

Alternative access is via the Eumundi–Kenilworth Road, off the Bruce Highway. Kenilworth is about 28 km from the highway. The turnoff into Sunday Creek Road is about 7 km past Kenilworth.
